My son (who also posts here but I won't say who it is) and I have had countless talks about how insane it is the stuff the Fisher regime wanted Tavon to do.
For instance: from the slot run a 5 yard button hook in front the LBs.
Have him run short up and outs into the sideline.
Have him run into zones and squat.
Most of what they asked him to do was to run to spots an usually short.
The issue for Austin is to get him in space. When you do that, wonderful things happen. They did the opposite and tried to run him like he was a possession WR.
Tavon Austin is a unique talent that had utterly no fit in a Jeff Fisher offense.
I think he will in a McVay offense that spreads defenses horizontally and vertically.
So the idea that somehow he's being phased out just doesn't wash.
