Everyone likes to throw GRob under the bus, but fact is in the two games he sat last year we put up 247 net yards (178 passing, allowing 3 sacks and 3 turnovers) and
177 net yards (
78 yards passing and 4 sacks allowed). These were against the lowly Saints and 49ers defenses respectively. Taking GRob out of the lineup didn't magically fix our offense.
You can still go back on NFL.com and see the NO game package where Havenstein gets blown up multiple times, allowing a sack/strip/fumble on one occasion. Saffold wasn't exactly a marked improvement on the left side either
It's damn tough to play LT in this league, the toughest spot on the offensive line, and yet from what I remember it was Havenstein needing help more often when the opposition had a potent speed rush to deal with on the strong side. Lets not pretend it was mainly GRob holding this offense back. Plenty of other players struggled, so imagine how poorly they would have played if thrown out at LT. I feel like his errors get extra blame because they were so untimely and flags are much more noticeable and definitive for assigning blame, but he drew an inordinate amount of ticky tack flags in my opionion. Somebody threw a stat up yesterday that he allowed less pressures per dropback than the league average LT if I'm not mistaken
