....it's a quarterback driven league.
Also, points come out of the passing game.
I'd rather have the QB. What good is Elliott, Donald, Martin or some other combo of first round guys with a bad QB? And why do you put Wentz in there? The Eagles gave up some picks to get him.
I put Wentz there because he was considered the next best QB by most scouts, though some had him ahead of Goff. Personally, I wanted Wentz over Goff, but that's beside the point.
So the reason I set it up that way is this: If they don't get Trubisky, they have several other QBs rated very close to him, or better. There was no consensus that he was the best of the bunch, though a lot of scouts leaned that way. Many of them also said they wouldn't pick ANY of this year's crop in the first round.
Anyway, my point is, before trading away all of those picks for Trubisky -- and, remember, Shefter said it would be okay to change the 3rds to 1sts -- you're just getting Trubisky . . . instead of, say, Watson, Kizer or Mahomes, PLUS any of the players available after the first two picks. And then next year's Number One. And the year after that.
So, it's either Trubisky alone, all by his lonesome, or another highly rated QB, plus three more first rounders. Sorry, but I'm baffled by the choice of Trubisky alone, when you can have another closely rated QB (or some other position player) plus three more potential starters.
