Watkins has 50% more productivity in about 33% less games.

This is kind of like a college intern being more productive working 20 hours a week than a 20 year experience worker working 40 hours a week.

Watkins appears to be a pro bowl player if he is ever healthy a full season. Woods appears to be a #4 3rd and 8 guy to move the chains.

But both play for a bad offensive team with bad offensive coaches so it is no diss on Woods. Just stating he has been very ineffective and with Watkins out of the lineup because of injury much of the time, he still didn't pick it up much being the main guy.

Your difference is accounted for in simple ways.

First, Watkins compared to the league at large is not that productive. He is comparatively in the narrow confines of Buffalo receivers. But Watkins was a high number one pick. In fact he was traded up for. To justify effectively using 2 #1s to get him, they would feature him and in fact they use him as their deep threat. So he has averaged 16.1 a reception over the last 3 years, while Woods averaged 12.1. And of course Watkins was targetted more too. (6 times a game for Woods, 7.45 times a game for Watkins).

So you're not talking about "productivity," not really. You're actually pointing to how they were used in a given context. Watkins got more targets and had the deeper routes. That tells us nothing about Woods as a receiver, meaning it does not indicate any flaws or problems in his game--it only tells us that they featured Watkins ...as you would expect they would.

To actually have something to say about Woods's presumed limitations or problems, you would actually have to watch him. All the numbers tell us is that (as anyone would expect without having to look) Watkins had more targets and had deeper routes.

Another place where they differ a bit that in fact is in Woods's favor is catch percentage. Watkins, career, it's 55.4%. Woods, career, it's 58.8%...and that's with a rough first year. You exclude his rookie season and it's 62.7%.(Exclude Watkins's equally rough first year and it's 59%).
