In the "Score takes care of itself" book by Bill Walsh that McVay references, Bill Walsh talks about building that culture and one of the things he eliminated was the hazing of the rookies. The theory being if you are good enough to be on this team, you are "one of us", not to be treated any differently (better or worse) than any other player.
