Some of you remember games and specific plays better than I do. But Snead talked about a critical play against Miami where Goff runs for a first down but then it gets called back. He points to that play as the one that lost the game and the one that could have changed the outcome of Goff's season.
Was that the GRob penalty?
If so, that's when GRob got demoted. Snead: note to self: "Replace GRob"
My view of Snead's comment has some truth but him saying that it could have changed the outcome of Goff's season is an exaggerated "what if" positive spin from my armchair perspective.
His comment about the Grob play has a tiny bit of merit but I don't believe it changes the outcome of JG's season. Snead was probably accurate in the sense that had the Grob penalty not happened, the Rams probably get at a field goal on that drive and with extra time taken off the clock, JG likely gets his first win.
The same can be said about the defense blowing the 4th quarter lead at home vs the 49ers and that could've been JG's 2nd win.
The only difference if those two things actually went in the in the Rams favor, is that JG finishes his rookie season with a record of 2-5 instead of 0-7. He still probably has almost virtually the sames stats and wouldn't be thought of any different then he is now since the season finished.
I could be wrong but that is my personal perception. The good thing as you already know dz, is that that last seasons offensive staff is no longer attached to JG's development.
As far as replacing Grob? No doubt his timeline is on red-alert with the coaching regime and if he ends up starting the season on the right side of the line, I will tip my hat to him. I have no guess how Grob is going to perform in 2017.
