McVay, to me, seems to do more or less what Bellichek does with the Pats O.
He fields a variety of specialists; all who are anything but well rounded. Rather, in their specialty, they are very difficult matchups. And he uses them that way.
I think I see McVay doing to the same thing. I admit, McVay certainly did not design the O or pick the players for the Redskins offense. But the way he seems to have used those players was to use guys who do one thing really really well.
Jordan Reed in the prime example. Starting TE, but used in a number of positions. He can block only as well as a 235 lb man can. Doesn't matte. He chips, does a little double teaming, but mostly he can get open at pretty much every level.
Thus, for example, I don't see a Butt type of player intriguing McKay. After the amazing success he's had with Jordan Reed, why wouldn't you want an ever faster and slicker version for yourself? Need extra blocking on the line from time to time? Put in an extra OT.
Besides: not only is Higbee plenty big enough to block sufficiently. but Harkey is a good inline and move blocker.
Not saying Njokue won't turn out nicely. But Engram is a ready to bake and shake from day one.
