It had been fundamentally out of kilter for years. Relocation didn't do that, though it certainly didn't help it either.
Goff being Superboy would go a long ways toward transforming this team into an actual winner and contender. But he's also not a complete unknown right now. It's just that the sum total of what we know so far isn't very good. Little in sports can be legitimately qualified as a certainty, but the absence of evidence doesn't count as evidence when assessing chances.
In the current state the Rams are at best the third best team in the division. That's likely true next season even if Goff starts looking like a real NFL QB and potential future franchise QB. That would certainly help them next season and close the gap, but most importantly that would point the way to a very positive future.
