Many are going to make that decision based solely on SB Victories. Personally... and I could argue with myself on this - I think SB victories may be the 'least' telling of all the elements. It's certainly the most reliant on 'team'.
Yeah that's team.
Which is why I personally don't put Favre on the list. Favre had his strengths but was he really a better qb (in all senses of the word) than Fouts, Stabler, Bradshaw, Warner, Moon, Kelly, Brees, or Graham? (To name ones who don't make the original list in this thread).
Did one superbowl put Favre on that list?
I also count comeback wins very highly because of all the things a qb can do that is the most on him. Team or no team, a comeback means you remain a poised, consistent, and reliable passer in an intense pressure situation. To me comebacks (if they are done by the offense and by passing) are mostly the qb. He has to come through.
That's also why I rate Rodgers lower than the original list does. Rodgers is actually kind of inconsistent in those situations.
Anyway, yeah, superbowl wins are team things. Which is why you have superbowl winning teams quarterbacked by the likes of Hostettler, Flacco, Eli, etc.-- all good qbs who nevertheless would never be considered elite.
And then there's a list of elite qbs who never won a superbowl in the superbowl era. Kelly, Moon, Marino, Fouts, Anderson, Tarkenton.....
Short version: I agree.
