TruJo, Austin, Barron, Brockers, Robinson, Goff, Saffold and Hayes are 8 of your top 10 in salary cap for this year. The other 2 are Quinn and Ogletree.
Of those 10, only Ogletree represents a big cap savings if cut. Kendricks @ 11 would save 4m as well.
I have a sneaking suspicion that next offseason is going to be a major overhaul year:
TruJo is either signed long term or gone as a FA.
Quinn's 12m cap hit is either re-negotiated or cut as a 11m savings. (955k dead money)
Brockers could be re-worked or cut as a 9m savings. (1.5m dead money)
Austin could be cut with 0 in dead cap with 8 mil in savings.
Barron could be re-negotiated or cut although he has a higher dead money number on his 10m cap hit. Save 7m with 3m in dead money.
Saffolds 7.5m cap hit could be a cap casualty with 6.5m in savings. (1m dead money)
Kendricks being cut would save 4.25m with no dead money.
Robinson will either finally figure it out or be gone.
Now obviously you have to replace these players with another player, and not all of them would be cut, but McVay's new team could be reshaped fairly quickly with the roster room and the cap space to do it.
And really, are Quinn, Kendricks, Saffold, Barron and Austin worth a combined 41.75 million (or just shy of 25% of next years cap)?
Quinn's...not the same player he was pre-back injury.
Saffold...Ram best OL last year, but injury prone and saying Rams best lineman isn't exactly a ringing endorsement.
Austin is (IMO) a gadget player at best and has never had 600 yards receiving in a year. Cannot pay that much.
Barron, does he really fit Phillips 3-4? And does he fit for 10m per?
Kendricks, Robinson are in the same boat, perform of goodbye.
