I will always defer to you on rookie evals, Alyo. Same with all of our other board draft gurus, as well. You guys are amazing.
So my comments here are coming strictly from a perceived strategic "needs" pov. A different perspective entirely.
Here goes...
I'm not convinced that DE is no longer a need. Quinn is still a health question mark and Hayes is best when coming off the bench or when getting many quick breathers. Our other DE's are "pretty good", but not dominant players that keep opposing DC's up at night. So I see DE as still a high priority need. And as you've pointed out, there are some good ones to be had in this draft.
If a transcendent TE falls to #37, okay, I could see taking him there. But otherwise, I just don't see TE that high on a needs list. Hopefully, McVay and his staff can improve Kendricks and the young Higbee as they did with their TE's in Washington. We have more pressing needs that MUST be addressed either through FA and/or the draft, imo.
CB in the 2nd or 3rd makes a ton of sense to me, so we agree there. Perfect intersection of need and value, it seems.
Since the Wade hire, I see LB(s) moving up on our needs list. Hopefully, a good one that they like will fall to them. I'm thinking by the 4th round at the latest.
WR remains as a very high need, whether in the draft or in FA. Or both, frankly.
I see the Rams as being active in FA on the OL, WR, and maybe LB fronts. Maybe a FA at QB, too, even if they kinda like Mannion.
I see them taking CB, WR, DE, and LB in some order within their first 4 picks. (assuming that second 4th comp pick).
Ironic that even with our crying needs on O, there are still at least 3 positions of need on this D. Even if TruJo is extended, which I fear is less than 50-50 likely now. Just an aside about TruJo here. It's just possible that he might extend if he gets excited about the hire of Wade AND likes the direction of his role in the new D. Not to mention the new culture expected under this new coaching staff. Yeah, I could see that...
That's what my gut and dusty crystal ball are telling me as of early February, anyway. Lol.
Their FA moves will tell us a lot about their strategy and intentions.
Where do you think I'm going wrong?
