Not saying the kid isn't going to be able to be that in the NFL, but as a general rule their infatuation with physical gifts over actual demonstrated ability on the field has been a problem with their picks under Snead/Fish. Just quit with all that IMO.
At TE the type I want is a big target with good hands, who has the instincts for finding a soft spot in the coverage and some sneaky speed. We already have that on the roster with Higbee, and also the UDFA kid Williams they added is also that type of player. Rams have some good talent already, and I don't want to see them chase freaks in the draft when they need more football players on this roster.
Adam Shaheen, Ashland - looks like an undersized olineman but certainly moves better. Catches balls outside of his frame easily. Bodies for position when he has to but can also separate vs man. Not sure if his speed will show in the 40, I think he will surprise though.
Michael Roberts, Toledo (?) - Smooth for his size. Effort is there to be a plus blocker, technique is lacking. Hands catcher (didn't see a ton of targets) but he does find spots vs zone and will win 50/50. Good RAC.
George Kittle, Iowa obviously isn't small school but he's only about 235 pounds and not a speed demon so he's under the radar because he's a legit inline TE even at that size. People see that size and want him to be Jordan Reed. He's much closer to what you described.
If you want Jordan Reed style at a great small school value, I mentioned Billy Brown from Shepherd before. He played WR at 245 and actually could survive out there but should excel as an h-back/move TE in the NFL.
