If they let Tru go that will say a lot about Snead.
I have no idea how McVay has success with this OL. And this OL was not all on Fisher. GRob was bought into by Fisher but he still was ranked high by Snead, and all those other guys who can't play were hand picked by Snead.
To be fair, max, GRob was ranked high by nearly everyone.
It happens.
With all due respect, 43, and you know I have a lot of respect for you, but an explanation such as "ranked high by nearly everyone" is a loser position to take. You don't get ahead by taking guys that are ranked high by nearly everyone you get ahead by being smarter than nearly everyone. There's a reason the Rams are still bad after 5 years of Fisher and it's not just coaching. It's as Riddick said, the Rams personnel department failed badly. Yet, they remain intact (so far). And I find that extremely alarming and depressing.
I had conversations with Dan Shonka of OURLADS before the draft in 2014 and he said GRob has all the tools but was a big project and was concerned about what was between his ears. That's why he had GRob as a first rounder but ranked below Lewan and Matthews, respectively. IMO you don't use the 2nd pick in the draft on a guy who should have what's between his ears questioned.
You think GRob is a bust, Shonka had him as a first rounder...so it's a miss by him also. Not seeing how what you said counters what 43 said at all.
Its a lot more nuanced than the way you are viewing it. And that again is the difference between a winning organizations approach and a losing one.
If the Ram had taken GRob AFTER Lewan or Matthews was off the board later in the first round then it could have been viewed as worth the risk due to his upside and an unfortunate failure.
But it wasn't that at all. It was an unnecessary high risk roll of the dice BECAUSE they had more responsible options available.
You can have great scouts in your organization but if you don't have a smart GM culling all the information and making responsible and thoughtful choices you end up with a GRob.
