My note app took a dump and won't open after an update so I pulled some of this out using an old note format, some games to refresh my recollection, and pure memory so bear with me.
Butt and Toth stand out for me. I think Butt is a bit overrated as a blocker but he's a QBs best friend type because he will be where he's supposed to be and make the catch. Toth probably needs to be in a power heavy scheme but he will be a real plus for you if that's the case.
2) CB Cordrea Tankersley, Clemson - Starter
Overall- I hope whoever drafts him let's him be physical with receivers at the line and does their best to keep him away from super quick guys with speed to burn if not.
+ Height/weight/length
+ when asked to press and be physical
+++ Tracking and making plays on the ball.
+ burst/explosion
• good tackler. Not strong wrapping up at times
• Aggressive vs the run
- not the quickest CB.
- Average speed for CB? Second gear?
- struggles a bit timing his hip turn in off man. Hips can be tight.
- gets tied up with his man and loses general awareness
3) TE Jake Butt, Michigan + Starter
Overall- This would be a great spot for him. Injury doesn't scare me much because as you can see below...I don't think he wins with speed. He's already more of a "crafty" vet style that wins with smarts, precision, and timing.
+ INITIAL QUICKNESS: Explosive out of his stance. Uses multiple tools to avoid defenders
++ HANDS: Soft hands. Extends arms.
++ CATCHING ABILITY: Easily adjusts even on the move. Catches everything in his radius. ++ concentration
++ ROUTE: Creates separation with precision/understanding how to set up defender/understanding the defense.
+ PRODUCTION: +++ third down and red zone TE
FOOTBALL INTELLIGENCE: +++
COVERAGE RECOGNITION: +++
• BLOCKING: Average inline blocker. Good bend, ok balance, solid effort. Doesn't stick for long. More of a nuisance blocker.
- SPEED: Average speed, no second gear. Choppy stride. + foot quickness.
- RUNNING ABILITY: Not elusive. Minimal deep threat
4) S Kai Nacua, BYU Rotation.
Overall - Never focused a ton and spend too much time off the screen to get a good feel when I did watch BYU. Has + instincts in coverage and a nose for the ball. Their other safety (#7) seemed to cover more ground.
4) C Jon Toth, Kentucky Starter
Overall - Strong, short area bully that I didn't see pull/trap. Looked very good vs a physical Alabama team and still good but had more struggles with Florida's speed. This seems like great value for a guy I see as a pretty safe bet to start somewhere.
+ INLINE: Smooth snap/setup. + initial strength. Locks in and maintains control. Heavy hands with good placement. Good balance, interior reach/seal, and drive.
+ ADJUST: Maintains contact, keeps feet, walls off. Good drive.
• SECOND LEVEL: Quickness to linebacker, blocks well in space.
• PASS BLOCKING: Average foot quickness. Smooth slide. Solid base, anchor, and bend. Only ok staying locked on to speed.
• RECOVERY: Good vs power. Hands get high when he gets behind speed
- EXPLOSION: not exceptional
- PULL/TRAP: didn't really see
5)
Vince Beigel 3-4 OLB
Overall- Never focused on him. Seemed like an overall solid player.
6) WR Fred Ross, Miss State - Slot/rotation
Overall- Been a fan for awhile. Hands were really inconsistent this year. Crafty WR that understands the game.
++ ROUTES: Has a good balanced stride that allows him to make sharpe cuts/breaks without giving the defender a tell. Quick through his gears.
++ SEPARATION: Uses all tools to create separation
+ BURST/ACCELERATION: + acceleration into his route and burst out of his break
+ CATCHING ABILITY: Extends arms to catch passes. Reacts to the ball last second to lessen defenders play making potential. Tracks the ball well.
• INITIAL QUICKNESS: Smooth, not exactly explosive.
• RELEASE: Gets off the line without distractions. Uses hands and strength to manipulate defenders
• SPEED: Sneaky speed to get deep.
+/- CONCENTRATION: Will make the tough catches in crowds and getting hit but drop way too many easy ones.
• RUN AFTER CATCH:
• BLOCKING: Solid
BIG PLAY: dropped a game winner (tie?) vs BYU on an over the shoulder TD.
6)
Joe Mathis Washington
Overall- Explosive athlete with very good length. Plays tall and doesn't have very good bend as an edge rusher. I'd actually like to see him play inside in a 34. He has + run/pass instincts and is a very good tackler/striker who can work through blockers.
7) DT Christian Lacouture, LSU
Never spent much time on him. Mostly thought of him as simply a space filler. Injured all year?
