Is that McVay seems to have an unusually passionate work ethic, even considering his peers and their obsession with the game. He's unmarried and very young, which doesn't tell me he'll make zero mistakes but it tells me he's mentally nimble enough to adjust quickly.... and to quickly recognize when he's out of his depth.

I don't expect him to make many right decisions in his first year as a HC, but I do expect him to be unusually flexible and quick to correct problems. Maybe he'll call a few preseason games or get early into the regular season, and say "Okay, I need to back off of this."

Just a hunch, of course.

Hell, maybe he's a true savant and can handle it. I just don't want him to bite off more than he can chew.

Glad he got a 5 year contract, because I fear he'll need it.

I'm trusting Demoff to have made the right decision here, and I can see the reasoning and I like it.
