I don't think Chuckie has the long term dedication that Stan is seeking. Neither does Mike Shanahan. And the collegiate options come with their own risk, so while I'm sure the Rams will have a couple of those types on their list I'm leaning towards poaching a young OC with a great offensive mind and "growing" him into the job. Anyway, here's my list:
1. Kyle Shanahan. He's gotten production from different style QBs, and in different locations. Flexible and bright. Tough on players too, as there have been rumblings of some not liking him, so as long as I'm not hearing that he's a jerk or his ego is out of control he's my top interview.
2. Jim Bob Cooter. Guy is really young and he has risen fast, which both mean proceed with caution. But that said check out his press interviews, the dude has great presence, is very confident, definitely going to be a head coach. Under him Stafford's QBR went from a career 85 mark to over 100.
3. Josh McDaniels. I think the negative associations with NE and previous coaching failures shouldn't count against him. He is a brilliant offensive mind who flopped due to being given too much power and flexibility to hang himself in Denver. He's grown up by all accounts and his on-field product is impressive.
I would bring in all three of those guys and whichever impresses me the most gets the gig and also will assist in selecting the GM who will work hand-in-hand with them. Five year contract, promised patience, dedication to establishing an improved organization, whole nine yards.
