The Chiefs are like Fisher's wet dream - don't take too many chances on offenses. Try and limit turnovers. Play stingy, opportunistic defense, good special teams. Grind out win after win. Their offensive roster is on exceptional. Smith is middle of the road, they have a committee at RB, Wr's don't exactly light it up. One thing they do have is one of the best TE's in the game.
Other than that, it must be coaching.
Would love to have that secondary.
It's our Achilles heel on defense right now....I heard an interview a few months ago where a very good GM said the secondary is the most important unit on a football team.
We should have done a better job of trying to keep Jenks and Tru together.
What HAVENT the Rams had for 3 years.
* a veteran starting caliber qb
* a solid intact OL
Now take those things from the Chiefs, and given then only #2 caliber qbs, or have Foles start and melt down again. How well do they do then? The same? Nearly as well? Not nearly as well?
And KC is not the only other team in the league that plays run, throws ball control, and sets up shots. There are a few winning teams built like that. Btw., in terms of the taking shots part, even Keenum was doing that at a higher rate than KC.
Smith, percentage of total attempts thrown 31 yards or more: 2.7% ... 20% completions.
Keenum, percentage of total attempts thrown 31 yards or more: 5.75%...33% completions
In the 31 and over range, 30 completions is decent, 40% is very good, 50% or over is exceptional.
