Bonsignore: Rams need a wake-up call and fast
By VINCENT BONSIGNORE / STAFF COLUMNIST
NEW ORLEANS – It was stone-cold quiet in the Rams locker room after the Saints took a 49-21 sledge hammer to them on Sunday.
A little too quiet, to be frank.
The players talked in frustrated whispers about getting things fixed and reviewing game film and addressing issues and staying together and reporting back to work on Monday ready and prepared to do whatever it takes to get back on track next week against the New England Patriots.
It was professional and conscientious and they meant every word.
But a little too professional and conscientious and earnest, to be honest.
At the risk of saying the Rams are getting a little too comfortable with this whole losing thing, it sure seems like they're getting a little too comfortable with all the losing after falling to 4-7 upon getting beat for the sixth time in their past seven games.
Which follows a dreadfully predicable routine for these Jeff Fisher-coached Rams, who need to run the table the next five games to finish a season above .500 for the first time under their beleaguered coach.
Raise your hand if you think that's actually going to happen with Tom Brady and the Patriots up next followed by Matt Ryan and the Falcons and Russell Wilson and the Seahawks and Carson Palmer and the Cardinals after that?
Remember how Fisher talked about “7-9 bull-(expletive)” in training camp?
At this point 7-9 would be bliss, not bull-(expletive).
