Austin may end up with 65-70 catches but the issue is on a per target basis his production is poor. He's averaging less than 5 yards every time he's targeted while Britt is 12.3, Quick is 11.5, Gurley is 7.7, Kendricks is 6.0, etc. In fact Austin has only been above 6.0 yards/target once in his career (rookie year in 2013). And his career punt return average (9.1) is mediocre at best. I wouldn't have him in the top 6-7 among Rams' punt returners all-time.
Good player. Can make things happen. Versatile. I would
not have extended his contract at this point...
