My concern is the Rams.
It is painful to watch a stupid football team and that's what Fisher has made the Rams.
The Rams are a stupid football team. There's a reason they play stupid. It's not only because Fisher isn't smart enough to fix, he enables it.
Now, am I saying he should get fired for botching the decision on the XP? No.
I don't take the bait from clever agenda driven posters who try to sweep away the real problem by switching the focus to an extreme reaction like firing Fisher over a dumb decision that didn't lose the game.
My concern is that Fisher's decision is representative of his mindset. He thinks in simple minded terms, such as let's put pressure on a kicker, without seeing the big picture.
My argument is that you don't go very far with a coach like that. Sure, the Rams may make the playoffs under Fisher, but the Rams will have to win a SB in spite of him, much like the Bears won a SB with Mike Ditka. Those 2 guys are very similar in my view.
Kroenke may be satisfied with that. Sadly, I'm pretty confident he is. And that's what we've got to live with.
And I agree with you on Bill Walsh, Vermeil, and Belichick. It is so much more satisfying when you know your HC is gonna make smart decisions. We have only had 3 years of that over the past twenty-something years.
