is he will know the relative strengths of his roster vs the defense he's lining up against, and stack the gameplan to best-serve his talent. That play would probably be a good call in that situation against half the defenses in this league. But Seattle is a perennial top five defense, and requiring your receivers to block out guys like Sherman in space is a tough expectation.
His players execute and he's a genius, sure. But over the course of 16 games and however many snaps happen, the better your OC is at the above the more often you're going to see success. And then of course there's always that talent question, since it's the players who make it happen. But IMO our best results against that defense have been vertical attacks, and coming right at them in the run game.
