Does anyone else remember the story about when Sensabaugh, during is first ever practice in OTAs, lined I and began yelling out the Rams plays when they hit their formation? At the time, I thought "either this kid is really a student of the game and really smart, or our offense and OC are really dumb"
So this is what I texted all of my friends when they were giving me @#$%& Monday and Tuesday.
And the reason is BC time after time, it looked like the 9ers knew what was coming. They'd have 9-10 people in replays swarming Gurley. The one time we tried a jet or end around for Tavon, their guys were right there. They seemed to consistent jump receivers routes all night and be in perfect coverage.
I don't blame Boras, BC I don't think he's qualified to do the job. I blame the guy who put loyalty or complacency above fear and competitiveness and kept him as our OC.
I want to like Fisher, I admire how he leads and how he treats the team. But if it looks like 7-9 .... well, that's what it is
It's fun to watch an aggressive team that is passionate and competes, but it's not fun watching an undisciplined team that has its bar set at "ok" and not "excellence". Didn't Laurinaitis say as much in an interview after hr left the Rams. Its a culture thing, and to me, I saw it time and again in Hard Knocks. Yes you want camaraderie and playing for each other and bad of brothers and fun, but more than that you need the bar for excellence and consistency set way, way higher than Fisher does. More Belichek, more grinding and consistently being prepared and stern, less"beers w the fellas" culture.
Hiring Boras and not self scouting the O is complacent, comfortable, yes loyal, but it's not competitive and so...7-9
