Philly: first year coach and GM that are not worried about losing as Wentz starts learning on the job.
LA: 5th year coach and GM that ARE worried about losing as Goff learns on the job.
If you reversed Goff and Wentz it would be the same exact deal IMO. Goff would be starting, I am sure of that, because that is the fastest way to learn the position. Give him all the snaps, focus, etc., and put him in there. Wentz has missed a lot of time and had his snaps affected as a result. Like Goff, the dude has elite passing ability though, more raw ability than Goff and most other QBs to come out in a long time in my estimation. So starting him has its merits.
Risk for Wentz is injury. He's not gonna be as good with protections as a vet, plain and simple. They can say he's ready all they want but he's a rookie and is gonna take more shots than he should because of that.
Then you'd expect the condition you're stating to hold true. But it doesn't hold true in this case.
No coach is safe with Jeffrey Lurie. Andy Reid was fired after his first losing season in 7 and only his third in 14 years in Phily. Chip Kelly was fired after his first losing season, going 7-9 after having gone 10-6 twice before that.
There is no honeymoon for Pederson. He's expected to win.
Meanwhile, Fisher and Snead are in extension talks with Kroene after 4 straight losing seasons.
Fisher and Snead are in a more secure position than Pederson. And that necessarily has to change everything about your conclusion.
