"where have all the good QB's gone?" There still here, just taking longer to develope these days...
With more and more colleges going to the spread one read type offenses where the kid doesn't even have to call a play in the huddle and just looks at some picture some dude is holding up(see Jared Goff) this is what is going to happen. Yet people are and media numbskulls are shocked and mocking kids for not being the starter from day one???
The Rams never really intended on Goff being the starter from day one and people who think he should be are fooling themselves.
One of the reasons Russell Wilson said he went to Wisconsin was because they are one of the few teams left that run a pro style offense. Look how much it helped him when he transitioned to the pros. Dak Prescott ran a similar type offense in college to what the Cowboys run and look how much better he has looked.
The toothpaste is out of the tube and there is no going back...colleges are going to continue to run these type of offenses and the kids coming out of them are going to struggle with the transition. Most of us knew Goff was going to struggle with that coming from Cal and that the pick was more about the future rather then today. Some people have the microwave mentality and expect things now and if he's not ready in one month of practice our coaches must suck...
