I agree but I also think trading up for Goff was a publicity issue. Team returns to LA, takes a Cal product that grew up in the state...a "golden boy" in the purest sense of the word. It was a very large splash that helps propel the whole "coming home" mantra, sell a few tickets, generate even more interest and excitement and build anticipation.

Was it necessary? No.
Was it smart? Probably not.
Will it work? Who knows but possibly not.

The long time Rams fans like us see the folly, still carry the hope, believe again that they can make a difference, turn the corner on arguably the most challenged franchise in the NFL and return to a winning tradition. But all of the hoopla surrounding his ability was hype, hope and hurrah.
