About the NFC west and the competition, I don't see that much has changed. The Cardinals and the Seahawks will challenge for the division, the Rams and 49er's will fight it out for 3rd place. And that may not end up being much of a fight, 49er's have really dropped off, but they're still an NFL team.
Being realistic the 49er's will probably be the bottom, unless they get some breaks, it's not likely the Rams will challenge the two division leaders. Doesn't mean it can't happen, but this season the odds are against it.
Neither one of the division favorites has degraded to the point they would fall out of contention. The Rams are still in their perpetual rebuild, they get a few players, they lose a few, other than Gurley, Donald, and now the unknown quantity Goff there isn't a #1 prospect that has wowed anybody. As he grows into the position in the Pro's he could be a difference maker, but as a rookie probably not.
49er's are a mess, Chip Kelly has his work cut out for him, as with any NFL season the fortunes of a team can change in a moment. An injury to an opponent, a normally steady player having a career year, an FA signing that is lightning in a bottle, those sorts of things. Possible, but not probable.
At this point, it's too early to say anything with certainty, other than what we can extrapolate from last season. Which doesn't mean much until they start playing for real.
