I read a great piece in today's L.a. Times about the Thompson kids. Klay plays for the Warriors in the NBA. Trayce plays for the Dodgers. Mychel is in the minors (baseball). Their dad Mychal Thompson was the number one draft choice in the NBA and starred for the Lakers.

The article was really an interview with their mom Julie who said something profound to me: She said "you can't want it more than your kids". That is such a hard lesson for parents. My son is much better at it than me. When my grandson says he doesn't want to up the mountain to train today my first thought is "get up there-I want to tell the world you are a great ski racer and how can "I" do that if you don't continue to train" OTOH my son says if he doesn't want to train that's his decision as long as he knows the consequences. Much better advice than me.
