He's spoken, (parents as well), with 3 different doctors (not sports specialists), and all have told him the same thing. He can't really injure it any more 'other than' what could happen normally to anyone.
He's been in no pain since right after the surgery... he felt no 'injury' in practice that has just begun but only what he describes as 'soreness', that came on gradually.
All that said, his Mom, (my daughter obviously), has set up an appointment with the highest recommended specialist here in Fresno... so I think we're good there. And trust me, we are NOT pushing him... he's a kid, it's his Senior year, he has an offer from a nice college.... he's not easy to caution at this time.
This next is not important... and I've told this before... you can ignore it... just repeating so there is no question about my feelings regarding this:
When I started backpacking in my early 40's I searched for a friend my age to join me... couldn't find one. Most just didn't want to but many... and the number surprised the hell out of me, couldn't because of 'old football injuries'. Knees, mostly. They were paying the fiddler from their glory days. (I myself missed half my senior year playing football due to injury but nothing debilitating or lasting long).
That was long before I had any grandkids... when they came along, and when they decided to try out for football... I told this story to them, their parents (my kids), and I told it a LOT... I'm still telling it. I even got pretty in your face about it... saying to my grandsons, "I've seen wonders in the High Sierra's that few have seen, and won't see, because of football injuries... think about it".
My grandsons are smart... all of them 4.0 students, they don't need football. I can see that easily... they, however, view things differently.
Thanks, Waterfield, much appreciated. - JamesJM
