I thought the strong side was where the TE lines up!
Young better on right? What do the numbers say.
Yeah, that was how it sued to be. strength of passing formation was where TE was. But OCs started putting the TE the 2 rec side and 3 receivers on the
other side .., it messed up the reads.
So now, it's "find the basketball team" regardless of position ... it's going to be 3x2 or 1x4 with the exception of balanced. (Pistol for example, RB right behind the Q

So, yes, "strong side" can actually be away from the TE. Also, the OLbers may have one read (passing strength) and it *could* be in some instances the ILBers following the TE ... one ILBer to the TE.
Unless we had a playbooks with all the reads we'd never know. I can only go by what I see them do most of the time or what I get from guys ion Twitter who are experts.
As far as Young on the right? Well, I don't know what numbers say, only that he was on the right about 2/3 of the time - can only guess that -- generally -- he was thought to be the better pass rusher and they wanted him on left tackle ... Hoecht would be no match for a LT, by an large. but we saw sometimes he was.
it could also have to do with Aaron Donald. They may want the 3-tech away from the RB, so if RB is on one side of the QB Rams may decide they want Donald awa from it (or two it --- maybe they have a twist or game that is designed that way).
Though not foolproof maybe quickest way to identify passing strength is where the nickelback (star) is ... more often than not he's on the passing strength --
side.
