This makes sense to me.
1. Murphy was the best DT in the draft.
2. The Rams #1 need was DT/Edge (not TE or QB - the other trade up rumors)
3. They had lost out on drafting their first choice - Latu
4. They thought Murphy was more valuable at that point than Verse, Chop R or Turner (also available at 16)
5. They were happy getting Murphy at 16 and then . . . Kneeland, Elliss, Braswell, etc. later?
As defensive players kept dropping in the first round, it crossed my mind we could get Latu or Murphy with 19 and then trade up for the other!?!?
What a draft that would have been.
