No. Or the long answer, Heck no.
It doesn’t matter how good any other player was at any position.
Once Verse fell to us, Rams wanted a specific player for very specific reasons at the position we were probably weakest at at that point in time (except kicker)
It wasn’t reaching. It wasn’t drafting for need and leaving better choices on the table.
It was getting specifically the player they wanted for the specific reasons they wanted.
Draft 101, and any argument about it at this point has to come down to whether or not he is good enough for that reason or not, and if anyone else could have done better within the parameters, they wanted that we could’ve gotten for the same or less, but we won’t know that until the rooks actually gets on the field. Any other consideration is pointless, and simply wrongheaded in its very nature, considering what the Rams were clearly trying to do.
