I've been saying for awhile that there is no reason Stafford can't play until he's 40. His skills have not diminished whatsoever. He's healthy. The weight loss last year had him bouncing around and more mobile than I'm used to seeing him even when he was in Detroit.
The guy is an elite QB.
So, I'd imagine that what is going on is that there will be more guaranteed money, but it will also go with a contract extension of at least 1 and probably 2 more years. Maybe 3 with a voidable year to give the Rams the ability to move some cap money around.
The issue is not IF he can play, it's about whether or not he wants to. And, it sure seems like he's saying he wants to.
Completely agree. Even though Stafford was an expensive acquisition, he has proven worth it.
I envision Rams getting at least 6-7 quality years from him in total. And maybe 1-2 more SB victories.
