Stetson Bennett has the skills to be a good backup QB and he is cheap. Is he over his "problem"? That is the big question but if he is we need to switch gears in how we are thinking. With Jimmy G. we have a high quality backup which gives Stetson a 1 year roadway until he needs to step into the number 2 role. We then have a quality backup on cost control for 2 more years. Not bad and who knows how well he develops. What we can tell is that the kid has a way of overcoming the odds and coming up big. Maybe he can do it again.

So on drafting a QB other than a later round developmental type headed for the practice squad I just don't see it unless they they are in love with Penix and he is there at 19 or close enough for a trade up. I think they would have to feel very strongly that he would be the QB of the future and I have no idea if that is even an evaluation that they have made. But it would see to be the most likely, though I believe very remote possibility for them drafting a QB. I think the Top 4 QB are out of reach for them to acquire. If the Rams are going to mortgage the future it will be from someone who can help them win it all this year.

Main reason the won't draft a QB? The don't need to. We have the best backup QBs we have had since McVay has been here and they are there at a reasonable cost with possibly a guy who can be a good backup for 3 more years.
