He probably could have made it with ha Steelers-like system

Ya, I still thought he would be at least a good 4-3 strong side DE. At the time I loved the things Dick LeBeau was doing with the Steelers 3-4 front and was hoping we would switch over. I think at the time there were only about 4 teams running a 3-4. I think Adam went to Washington later on and they were running a 3-4 and it worked out a little better for him.

And agree a base-end in a 4-3 ... but what he wasn't --- he wasn't a nose tackle. Always on the nose or shaded ... Rams had him doing that with Glover moving back and forth

Like we've been talking in another thread ... he was possible the BPA when the drafted, though DL had also been a priority, I'm sure, too but even if he could play base end in a 4-3 --- you don't do that with a pick that high. Not to mention guys they passed up (could had had a HOF Ccool smiley

But they didn't blow that pick because they were going for need . . . they just missed their guess that he'd fit. He also had a couple of physical negatives that affected his play ... but I think he was an able player, but for a guy with great college career and good measureables ... he should have been better
