I am not downplaying sacks in any way, but the guys with the most sacks are the high priced guys for the most part. That said IMO pressures actually do more damage as they can produce those all important turn overs. So as far as an edge goes you want to see a bunch of sacks, but those pressures cause more turmoil. A sack is sexy, a pressure is more dynamic (with possibilities of mistakes being caused).
they are highly connected ... sure, thee are exceptions, someone has 10 sacks and 50 pressured and another person might have 15 sacks ns 45 pressures ...
but sacks also produce forced fumbles and other big plays.
Over the course of a season the best pass rushers have good dack totals and good pressure totals ... most of the time.
I think the issue here is about Chop Robinson.
The detractors are saying he didn't have sacks in college, so why would he be a good pass rusher in the NFL.
You'd have to look and see his film to see why. You also look at his film and see his skill set, and does that translate to the NFL?
You also have to look at guys with big sack totals in college that were no good NFL pass rushers and there are plenty of those.
Chop is an elite athlete with good skills, from what little I've seen. But he's got the mind and work ethic to learn in the NFL.
Pss rushing is a skill and people can get better at it and the better athlete you are the more those skills work.
I don't know if Rams should take him or not, but this "he didn't have sacks in college" thing is not the determinative factor.
