As wisely stated....we fans merely provide speculation, because who knows how Los Ramos braintrust views specifc players' talents, right? I mean who projected McSnead had their eye on a DT from Wake Forest, as one of their Top 3 picks last April, huh?
Still and all, even though it is speculation, the fact that Rams fans come up with different trade-up or trade-down scenarios IMO is a good thing
....as it just demonstrates how much we fans lock-in on our team's Draft options every year.
Nothing wrong with some enthusiastic suggestions/speculations/ideas.......right?
To wit, I can recall Les Snead describing in his own words at the media podium over past Draft years "how this (or that) trade gave us an extra pick in the Top 100 pool." Seems to me, Snead takes some comfort in shrewdly acquiring additional picks inside the Top 100 Pick pool........so here's my speculation/suggestion.
At present we have 4 picks in the Top 100, ranging from our #19 First Rounder (875 pts), thru our 2nd Rounder, our 3rd Rounder, down to our Raheem Morris compensatory 3rd Round Pick at #99 (104 pts).
My feeling that the KC Chiefs might want to move up from their #32 spot in the First Round to target some specific guy they covet.
So, we package our #19 First and our #99 Comp 3rd, which yeilds at total of 979 points, and ship it off to KC in exchange for their #1/32 (590 pts), their #2/64 (270 pts) and (are you ready?) their #3/95 Pick (120 points) which yeilds 980 total Draft Chart points back to the Rams.......and gives us, in my scenario, an increase from 4 Picks in the Top 99 Picks, to now FIVE PICKS in the Top 95 Picks.
We do drop 13 spots from #19 to #32, that's true......and while we do gain 4 Picks upward in the 3rd Round from #99 to #95, our PRIZE is that we do pick up an EXTRA 2nd Rounder #64 from the Chiefs in this trade scenario.....and get McSnead an extra "Top 100" guy!
What do you guys think?
