I get it. Some fans simply can't think beyond their emotions, and are suspicious of everything. Jourdan sets the record straight, and states that what she is saying she knows with a certainty.
1) The Rams have known for months that AD would likely retire, and they had already actually started strategizing about it after the Superbowl win.
2) They have been very intentional in their FA about spending money mostly on the Offense.
3) They will likely continue to go young and cheap on D. But....they COULD go old and cheap, however she doubts that.
4) Always remember that McVay is Offense oriented. So, the bucks are going to always be spent to create a dynamic Offense.
5) There is only so much money. That is why they didn't go for the top 2 or 3 Edge rushers whose contracts were enormous.
6) JG is an excellent systems fit for the McVay offense, and McVay is very familiar with JG and vice versa. Close to a perfect fit.
7) Wentz was not unliked in the building but JG was a much better fit.
8) There is more, so listen!
My take: forget them using their top pick on a DT UNLESS they think they are drafting a super difference maker (and I don't think there is a super difference maker DT in this draft). Rather, they're probably counting on getting 1 of the top 3 Edge guys, even if they have to move up slightly to get one.
This is going to be a 70% Defense draft with at least 3 of their highest 4 picks going to D. If their plan works, it will be Edge and DT and NOT CB.
They aren't done fortifying the Secondary with vets.
