JG is an excellent grab for the Rams as a back up QB.
He is very accomplished, has seen every kind of D, has delivered in big moments, been on the biggest stage. He is the definition of systems oriented, game manager QB. Perfect as a back-up. A guy who won't win the game for you, but won't lose it for you either.
Rams fans don't like him mostly from an emotional level, because I don't think he's ever lost to the Rams when leading the Niners.
He is currently a marginal starter level QB. Even a good what might be called "bridge" QB. As a back-up it is pretty hard to do better unless you spend big bucks.
Wentz? I really don't know. For some reason this guy has become poison for most NFL teams... and clearly the Rams weren't all in to get him back. I've heard various rumors as to why but nothing definitive. The Rams used him for one game and he essentially became a runner. I imagine there's a good reason for that.
Glad to have JG aboard. Best back-up we've had in recent memory.
