My son and I get into these types of discussions all the time that so and so HoF player wouldn't make it in today's game. I respond that today's players will be viewed the same way in 20+ years after they retire.
I think there is some truth to that. Can you imagine Aaron Donald of 2021 playing against offensive lineman of the 60s.
Or Jack Youngblood lining up at 225-230 pounds opposite Orlando Pace?
That said, there are some players who would seem to transcend the generations - Butkus, Singletary, LT, Nighttrain Lane, Jerry Rice, Deacon Jones, Jim Brown, Walter Payton.
Some guys seem to fit whatever year you may put them.
