I don't know if the Rams will ask Stafford to restructure ... but if they do ask I can't imagine why Stafford would say 'no'.

Stafford's salary this year is $31M. As it stands he will get paid once a week during the course of the season: $1.722M a week for 18 weeks.

If he converts $25M of that to a signing bonus he gets that $25M today and then the remaining $6M is paid out during the season: $333,333 a week for 18 weeks.

If there's a reason why Stafford wouldn't do that I'd like to hear it.

BTW, this move would save the Rams $20M against this year's cap if they also add a couple void years to his current deal.
