Here's my thought process......
Dotson getting signed is a no brainer, he will be a Ram and with the extra $$$$$ the Rams should get that deal done.
Instead of drafting a C, go get Cushenberry and UPGRADE the middle of your offensive line. Rams can do OLINE in FA.
Now our Oline looks like....Jackson, Avila, Cushenberry, Dotson and Hav's.
OLINE is done in FA.....Now, go get an EDGE and FA is complete!!!!!
Sign those 2 @ 65-70 mil for Dotson and 50-60 mil for Cushenberry? And then what? A few inexpensive free agents? The Rams LOVE their comp picks and if they sign those two.....and they would have to in the first wave of free agency. So their losses would Shelton and ?????? I'd rather they let Shelton and Dotson walk and draft their replacements in the 1st and 2nd round. OT is deep and they could use one of them to play RG...perhaps one of the RTs in the draft. They could draft the C in the first round....JPJ or trade down and get VanPran. Who knows what'll happen? I don't see them paying huge jack to Dotson and Cushenberry when they're letting them walk into free agency. I could be wrong but we'll see.
It should be mentioned the writer of that article has it wrong. They need to replace Shelton, not Allen. Shelton already replaced Allen last year.
