Could be that in addition to seeing Allen's knee as a liabilty, they saw enough of McAllister to view him as an asset to back up Shelton in Allen's absence.
Allen was thrown into the fire before he was ready f due to injuries ahead of him on the OL. He garnered plenty of criticism on this board a a result. When he matured and could play without injuring that knee again, he was a top-ten OC.
He was loyal, an extra-hard worker, learned fast afrwe making mistakes early-on, and when not hurting a much better-than-average player. He understood line calls, didn't miss on long snaps, could get into the second level and block effectively.
Thanks for giving it your best, Brian Allen. It was plenty good - as good as you could make it even when playing hurt, and that's all we can ask. Whatever yor future holds, we we wish you the best.
