2 questions actually:
1. What are the skill sets of a zone corner vs a man corner? I know what makes zone and man different, but what attributes make a strong man corner vs a strong zone type?
2. I assume quality man corners are a lot harder to find than quality zone corners. Do you think the Rams being so zone heavy impacts the way they view corner in general?
1. Speed is one determiner and confidence/short memory for man guys. That and long arms are nice to jam or reroute WRs.
Zone CBs have to read better, change directions, have better footwork and don't have to have the blinding speed but need a burst, quickness
But also remember NFL is moving to more match zone, so once the route concept is read by the CBs it's man-to-man anyway and colleges running a lot of match quarters or Saban's version of it ...
Slot CBs need to be able to run well and can come if different vairetlies ... depends if you want a safety-type and run a quasi-base defense or more of a traditional nickel with a smaller fast guy ...
there is, I am sure, a lot more ... these ar just a few things.. . but IMO speed and length (not necessarily height) are determining factors.
