LBer and secondary coaches get more chances to call coverages and plays. The line calls are subordinate to the coverage.
So, the back 7 get precedent. So, now, as a co-DC he will presumable get more experience and that will open up opportunities either
where he is or in NFL in a few years. At that point he can point to his resume and say he called plays for a top-level NCAA team
Smart move by him.
