Before that Rogers, Rothlesberger. All first round picks who've won - author picks an arbitrary date of drafted since 2010. Maybe it's just been a bad run of QB's for a while. Burrow, Allen - one of them likely to win a superbowl in the next decade. Even Stroud this year could be special long term. Also, what about first round picks who've been in a superbowl. Just getting there is a tremendous achievement. Marino never won a superbowl- should the dolphins not have drafted him?
I think the point he's trying to make is that it's very difficult to hit it right on a first round QB and the failures are very glaring. You don't hear much about first round CB's or edge guys who never pan out. I still think you have to take your shot if you're up at the top of the draft and you don't have your guy. If you miss, you miss. There's no guarantee that the LT you took instead is going to be great and a difference maker.
