in the 17 game regular season? Is an injury considered a struggle? I consider a struggle of a player to be when his effectiveness falls off, his play lowers in his numbers. He overcame an injury and hit the ground running (literally). He averaged more per game than CMC......I never saw the guy struggle, not any any time. He was IMO maybe THE most efficient offensive player we had, almost always had positive yards, even when hit in the backfield.
Bringing in a 2nd and 3rd runner into an equation doesn't mean automatically 1 guy is struggling to finish a season. To me it offers simple logical reasons, keep guys fresh, make a change up against a defense, 1 guy is better at things then the other guys......The guy messes up his ankle or breaks his hand ...those are not struggles, those are injuries.
