I can't imagine McVay seriously considering either since the moment Morris left if he thought he had the next DC already on his staff, there would be none of the conga-line of candidates we're seeing.

This is probably mostly practice for those 2, and that of itself is a good thing. It'll help them see where they stack up against other DC hopefuls.
