Loved reading your reply OldSchool.... and all these replies. Yup.... I can see in my mind's eye your reaction.
Gotta say it yet again..... I had attempted to watch the entire game on TV.... couldn't do it. Back then, during critical games/playoff games, I would get too nervous to watch so I'd go to a special place on my farm, (had done this since the 60's), and listen on the radio.... call it superstition.
So at halftime I headed to my special place to tune it in on the radio....
It was pouring rain.... but I didn't stay in my pickup, that would have broken tradition.... I stood out in the rain, pacing. When Jones made the tackle I stopped breathing.... I HAD to hear if it was confirmed.... was there a flag? Was it really over? Had the Rams actually just won the Super Bowl?
So it was some time before I allowed myself to accept that yes, they had indeed won the Super Bowl... and when I did.... I collapsed... in a rain puddle... in dirt so mud was involved as well. To this day the Ram sweater I was wearing that day hangs in my closet..... unwashed... mud now hardened and permanent.
