We need to start 2024 with a good offensive line that is in form so we can chase a #1 overall seed. We have the QB. We have good pieces and with just one additional WR who can add good deep threat we would be a top three offense. So we cannot afford to screw up again on the OL. It has to be ready game one. Not game eight or after our bye. First game of the season.
Defensively we need players with good range that can tackle well underneath. Jones fills fine in the run game, I don't think he's elite there but he's good enough there. But he doesn't bring range in that regard so he has to be within a reasonable pay window or let him walk.
Dotson there is more room to pay him to ensure this line is set. So I'd say he's a bit more important than Jones. Or perhaps more accurately OL is more important than ILB. If Dotson gets stupid money then let him walk and chase a LT then move Jackson over to RG. Either way if Dotson's pay goes high enough then you gotta ask yourself "why not just sign a LT" because I am certain Jackson would be just fine at RG. But with Jackson at LT even though he's not ideal we're not desperate at that cornerstone position. And of course there is no guarantee a LT will hit the market, in fact they typically don't unless they're the kind who aren't good enough or who want way more than they are worth.
