While watching training camp at UC Irvine, Rampage2K and I discussed what it would take for the Rams to make the playoffs...
1) the defense was the biggest question mark by far. Could Young and Turner become impact players right away? Could this D stop the run? Could Hoecht be an impactful player as on OLB? I predicted that Hoecht would get 10 sacks. Rampage said if that happened the Rams would make the playoffs. It didn't happen but they still made the playoffs. Young and Turner were as good as we could have hoped, if not even better. I still love Hoecht, though.
2) the offensive line would need to gel quickly and stay healthy all season. That actually happened and was the #1 reason this offense has been so successful. Stafford, Puka and Kyren being as great as they have been starts with this O-line being so effective and consistent.
3) first and second year guys would need to step up big time. Kyren, Puka, Avila, etc. were more than we could have hoped for.
Huge props to Snead and McVay for drafting these players over the past couple years, and bringing in key impact players like Witherspoon, J.J. III, DeMarcus, Dotson, etc.
Thanks for the encouragement to post more often, guys. I used to post a lot during the GSOT days, so I will try to post more often. I always enjoy reading the Herd Board every day. You guys who post a lot are awesome and have created an amazing community of Rams fans here. I come here for the latest Rams news, commentary, insights and camaraderie. It's a true brotherhood when you are PASSIONATE about the Rams and share that passion with a large group like this. We have a lot to be happy about as Ram fans in 2024.
